Kanchipuram (Kanjivaram) silk sarees come from the temple town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, home to one of South India’s best-known weaving traditions. The style is recognised by its rich silk body, bold contrast borders and pallus, and fine zari work. A hallmark of the tradition is korvai weaving, where the body and the border are woven separately and then interlocked, so the contrast border sits firmly with the body.

Paisley motifs are a classic design in Indian textiles and are worked here in zari. Mandala-style circular motifs bring a symmetrical, detailed look to the weave.
